Transpersonal Body-Mind Therapy

While solving problems and alleviating symptoms are a part of this work, its main focus is to further the unfolding of your being so that you may live your life with greater ease, awareness, authenticity, wholeness and passion. For couples, this includes learning to relate to each other in ways that create greater understanding, honesty, and intimacy between you. Learning skills for undefended communication, and addressing issues that create disappointment, resentment, and distance are a part of couples work.

Non-Dual Transformative Tantra Yoga

Johanina teaches a transformative Tantra that weaves the philosophy of non-dual Tantric Shaivism, the ancient movement and micro practices of Kashmirian Tantra, energy awareness, breath work, meditation, visualization and inquiry to groups and privately to serious students.

Many people confuse Tantra with the practice of sacred sex. Tantra is a philosophy and practice for the realization of the unconditioned Self. The sexual metaphor pervades the Tantras. Shakti and Shiva's love gives birth to a richly erotic universe. But, rather than a guide to better orgasms and sexual intimacy (see Johanina's book: The Complete Idiot's Guide to the Kama Sutra for a guide to love, sex and intimacy), the sexual imagery of the Tantras points to the possibility of a spiritual ecstasy, of which sexual love gives us a brief glimpse. For those who are seeking spiritual liberation, Tantra generously embraces life's contradictions, recognizes your basic goodness, and offers you a highly refined map of the tremoring bliss of being.

Johanina was introduced to Vajrayana Tantric buddhism as a student of Chogyam Trungpa, and to modern Tantra as a student of the Indian mystic Osho. She led neo-Tantra groups in the US and Australia for the Center for Passionate Living, the New School of Relationship, and the Human Awareness Institute, and taught breath work for Tantra: the Art of Conscious Loving seminars. Johanina studies Tantric philosophy with Christopher Tompkins, Daniel Odier, and Douglas Brooks.

Breath and Movement Inquiry

The breath is a powerful transformative tool. Breath work therapy facilitates the release of tension and trauma, and frees the natural flow of emotions and pleasure in the body and the mind. Besides being a tool for emotional freedom and sensory awareness, the breath is a vehicle for exploring the multidimensionality of being and non-ordinary states of consciousness.

Johanina trained in Reichian character analysis, breath, body work, movement and process work, as well as Holotropic breath work, pranayama, and Rebirthing.

Body-oriented inquiry fosters an attitude of openness and curiosity about your experience as it is unfolding. Focusing on senses and feelings puts you in touch with the present moment, making it possible to shift your attention from repetitive thoughts and worries to being in the spacious generosity of your authentic nature.

Johanina uses this approach in breath work and talking sessions, and teaches it those who wish to make this a part of their personal practice. Body-oriented inquiry is based in the Focusing method developed by Eugene Gendlin and the open-ended inquiry practiced in the Diamond Heart and Diamond Logos schools.

Integral Transformative Sexuality

Based in the current research and understanding of human sexuality from psychological and spiritual perspectives, this work addresses issues concerning sexual desire, sexual performance, orgasm, sexual abuse and addiction. In some circumstances, a client may work with a professional surrogate partner who teaches the hands-on healing and learning component. In this situation you would work alternately with the surrogate partner and Johanina. Johanina has worked with and trained sex surrogates since 1996.
